Digi Dash is a standalone device and does not require a mobile phone in order to work! However, you can connect any phone with bluetooth to Digi Dashs bluetooth phone application to make/receive calls.
You can also connect iPhones and Android devices to the wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto app without the need for a cable!
